Brain Training…

Neurofeedback (also referred to as Brain Training) addresses problems of brain disregulation.  This can include symptoms such as, anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Developmental Trauma, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), sleep disorders, headaches and migraines, Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS), Autism as well as other emotional disturbances.

Brain Training is the direct training of brain function, by which the brain learns to function more efficiently and allows an individual to learn voluntary control over his/her brain’s electrical activity or “brainwaves”.

I generally start with a brain map (QEEG) in order to get a picture of how your brain is currently functioning.  I then compare the picture of your brain function with the symptoms you report to develop your brain training plan.

I often use Brain Training in combination with NLP (Neuro-linguistics Programming) to help achieve optimal results with my clients.

NLP encompasses three components: neurology, language and programming.

  • Neurological system regulates how our bodies function
  • Language determines how we interface and communicate with other people
  • Programming determines the kinds of models of the world we create

NLP describes the fundamental dynamics between mind (neuro) and language (linguistic) and how their interplay affects our body and behavior (programming).

I am also in the process of certification as a Brain Fitness Coach as this will truly enable me to offer a holistic approach to brain training.

Clients can optimize brain health and neural function resulting in a calm Mind, Body and Brain through training the Mind (Meditation, Tapping, NLP), Body (Heartmath, Yoga, Reiki, Nutrition) and Brain (Neurofeedback).

 I DO NOT treat or diagnose, I train and coach.

Brain training can help you:

Brain Training is a learning process in which symptom changes take place gradually, over a period of time.  The brain is trained to change patterns associated with symptoms, once the new patterns are learned they often last with no further treatment required.

  • Strengthen attention, focus, learning, memory, creativity and intuition;

  • Gain greater control of behavior, emotions, and racing thoughts;

  • Brighten and stabilize mood and deal with past traumatic experience;

  • Improve sleep, appetite and other physical functions;

  • Overcome chronic pain and fatigue conditions;

  • Rehabilitate head injuries, seizure activity, migraines and irritable bowel;

  • Improve your ability to stay in “the zone” and perform at your peak.

My child has a diagnosis, can neurofeedback help? 2018-02-03T14:25:01+00:00

YES!  I have personally seen the improvement in my own children as well as the hundreds of children and families I have worked with over the past 4 years.

Is neurofeedback safe? 2018-02-03T13:37:40+00:00

Absolutely. The sensors attached to your scalp are simply there to listen to the brain; there is no stimulation or signal transmitted by the equipment. The brain does all the real work, adapting in response to the feedback.

How effective is brain training, what kind of results can I expect? 2018-02-14T09:28:33+00:00

Studies have repeatedly shown Neurofeeedback to be effective in a wide variety of clinical applications as well as for peak performance.

Clients can feel different after just the first session, although it will take several sessions for the new ways of working to be fully learned by the brain.

Just as different people learn at different rates, so do different brains, and some have more to learn than others.

What is the brain training experience like? 2018-02-03T13:52:19+00:00

Electrode sensors  will be attached to your scalp to monitor your brain waves.

Feedback to your brain is provided through the use of video, audio and tasks.  There is a choice of video games that you ‘control’ with your brain, from very simple ‘pong’ type games to car racing and jet ski games. You can also choose from a range of documentaries, TV shows or music videos, in fact any DVD you want to bring along or YouTube videos.

The video will fade in and out as the brain changes state. As you relax, the brain is able to ‘tune in’ to the feedback and adjust in response. This all happens subconsciously…Brain training does not focus on trying to change the conscious mind. Brain training changes the underlying patterns best without the “thinking” mind.

Can I still do Neurofeedback if I am on medications? 2018-02-14T10:15:00+00:00

It is always advisable to check with your doctor if you are on medications.
